It’s Women in Horror month and we can’t think of a better time to announce that Meerkat Press will be publishing two works by master of horror Kathe Koja in 2020.
The first book, Koja’s second short fiction collection, Velocities, is dark, disturbing, and heartfelt. It includes thirteen stories, including two never before published, all flying at the speed of strange.
Second is her classic novel of fear, obsession, creation, and destruction, The Cipher, which reopens the door on the Funhole with this brand new and long-awaited print edition. It is the winner of the Bram Stoker Award and a finalist for the Philip K. Dick Award.
“We are so thrilled to be working with Kathe Koja on these books. Her writing is dark, gritty and completely addictive—just the way we like it.” says publisher, Tricia Reeks.
Says Koja, “The Funhole is back! I’m always being asked about a new print edition of The Cipher, and now the answer is Meerkat Press. And The Cipher will be paired with Velocities, my second short fiction collection, thirteen stories, including two that are brand-new. I’m delighted to be working with Tricia and the Meerkat team—we plan to have a ton of fun bringing these books to readers.”
Kathe Koja writes novels and short fiction, and creates and produces immersive fiction performances, both solo and with a rotating ensemble of artists. Her work crosses and combines genres, and her books have won awards, been multiply translated, and optioned for film and performance. She is based in Detroit and thinks globally.
